Dragomir Ugren was born on February, l7. l95l in Bosanska Krupa.
Until 1957 he lived in a village Podvran near Bosanska Krupa. He attended primary school in Miokovićevo (Croatia), 1957-1964, and gradueted in Pakrac (Croatia) in 1965. Ugren attended secondary school in Pakrac in 1965, Sombor, 1965/1966 and in Vršac in 1966, where he graduated in 1970. During 1971 - 1973 Ugren studied at the Faculty of Law and at the Teachers College (Department of Fine Arts) in Belgrade. He entered Academy of Fine Arts in 1973 and graduated in l978 from the Painting Department in the class of Zoran Petrovic. Since 1971 Ugren lived in Belgrade, and from 1975 in Subotica. In l982 - 1989 period he worked as a curator in the Gallery "Likovni susret" in Subotica. Ugren moved to Novi Sad in 1989 where he founded Gallery "Most" and curated it during 1989 - 1992 period. In l992 - 1996 he was director of the Gallery of Contemporary Art, and during 1996 - 2002 he was director of the Museum of Contemporary Arts in Novi Sad. Since 2002 he worked as a curator in the same institution that was in 2006 renamed the Museum of Contemporary Art. Ugren was chief editor of the visual arts magazine Projects(r)t since its foundation l993 till 2001.
