Jana Shejbalová-Želibská (1941, Olomouc) is a part of the progressive generation of action art and conceptual artists of the Czechoslovak Neo-Avant-garde scene of the 1960s and 1970s.

Želibská graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Bratislava (1959 - 1965) and spent time on a scholarship stay Paris (1968). She soon abandoned traditional art and moved her work towards rising international tendencies such as Pop art and the French Nouveau réalisme.

In the 1960s, Želibská did interventions is the natural environment and objects. During the 1970s, she contributed to the founding of festivals, and she did solo actions. In 1971, Želibská participated in the Prvý otvorený ateliér of Rudolf Sikora, where she exhibited an installation Amanita Muscaria – the Possibility for Saving during the Entire Year of 1971 (1971). In the late 1980s, she created post-modern objects and installations, and in the 1990s, she did video art. Želibská participated in the Majstrovstvá Bratislavy v posune (1979 – 1986), an annual event organised by Dezider Tóth. Her works are in the media of printmaking, drawing, painting, assemblage, installation, video and performance.

Želibská openly engaged the issues of female and male roles in society, explores female identity, nature and its connection to women, and humanity’s relationship to the earth. She co-founded the Čenkovejdeti group in 1989, which later changed its name to Untitled (1994).
