As part of the Connect/Reflect programme in the Striegl Municipal Gallery, monograph on one of the most notable post-war art groups, Gorgona (Josip Vaništa, Julije Knifer, Ivan Kožarić, Marijan Jevšovar, Đuro Seder, Dimitrije Bašičević Mangelos, Radoslav Putar, Matko Meštrović, Miljenko Horvat) will be presented.
The first all-encompassing monograph on the Gorgona group is a result of a long research project, bringing forth never before seen facts and expert analysis of the importance of the group in the global art scene. The 760 pages of the book and over 1600 reproductions (archives, correspondence, artworks) show the innovative concept of the book, focused on showing the pre-Gorgona period, the socio-political situation, connected events in global terms, their joint activities, and individually each of the members, and later the post-Gorgona period. The book ends with an expansive chronology.
The core of the book are text of the art historian Ješa Denegri, PhD., with additional text by the art historian Ivana Janković and artist Željko Kipke, with other historical and expert texts.
